The Tomato Festival is THIS Friday August 2. It’s been a tough growing season and we could use some help filling up the tasting table. Do you have a favorite variety that is already ripe? Please bring 3 nice ones to add to the tasting table and your friends and neighbors will thank you! Perhaps you also have a contender for the Monster Tomato Weigh-in? It doesn’t have to be pretty or ripe, just big! Why not enter the Tomato Salsa contest too! Bring a quart of salsa to the Market by 9:30 am. This is a People’s Choice contest and everyone is invited to taste and vote for the winner to be announced at noon. Prizes for both events are $100- first, $30 second, $20 third. Please join the Kid’s Corner between 10-11 am. We’ll be making prints of tomatoes and other fruits and veggies to celebrate the Tomato Festival. Children can submit their artwork to be judged at the Grayson County Fair on August 10th if they would like. We’ll have entry forms and all the Fair information at the Market. Kids of all ages are welcome to participate and activities are always free. This will be our last Kid’s Corner of the summer season, but we will be back for Apple Day in October and at our Christmas Markets in November and December.
