What a busy day! The Tomato Festival features a People’s Choice tomato salsa contest, Monster Tomato weigh in, free tomato tasting and Cameron from Baywood Forest will will be cooking with tomatoes and mushrooms. Wait, there’s more! The Fiber Folks will join the Market as well for this fun filled day.
Fiber Days were one of the earliest events at the Market. Libby Kahn offered great classes and Kids activities and she and Nancy Liebrecht recruited other local fiber artisans to come to the Market. That same group of talented folks just hosted their first Fiber Festival in Sparta this year. It’s sure to become a very popular annual event. This is the last Fiber Day of the Market season so be sure to come support these talented fiber artisans!
Friday is your chance to sample all the different tomato varieties we sell at the Market for free. You can also enter the People’s Choice salsa contest and Monster tomato weigh in. Prizes for both events are $100- first, $30 second, $20 third. A big thank you to our generous sponsors, 1908 Courthouse and Skyline Bank.
Bring a quart of salsa to the Market by 9:30 am. Don’t feel like entering the contest? That’s okay. We need you to taste and vote for the winner to be announced at noon. Bring your largest tomato to the Market by 11. It doesn’t have to be ripe or pretty, just big! Weighing at noon.. And Abby will have free kids activities at the Kids Corner from 10-11.
Friday is also the last day of the Knife raffle sponsored by Tim at Shear Perfection. Tim made the beautiful knife. All proceeds benefit the Market.
