The Farmers Market will be back to Town Park tomorrow, Friday November 29 from 11 am to 2 pm! If you can’t make it, you’ll have a 2nd chance Saturday December 7 also from 11 am to 2pm. We’ve invited area artisans to join us just in time for your holiday shopping. Celebrate the beginning of the Holiday season by shopping locally for delicious local products and beautiful crafts. Enjoy free Kids activities at the Market and stay for the Parade and Town Activities on Saturday. You can pick up your pre-ordered Christmas trees and wreaths from Brookgreen Farm either day. Please let us know which you prefer when you place your order.
Saturday December 7 features the annual Chili Cook-off. This People’s Choice contest offers a $100 first prize. It is free to enter, just bring a crock pot of warm Chili to the Market by 10:45. It’s $5 for the public to taste all the chili and vote for their favorite. The contest averages 10 entries so it’s a bargain. The winner will be announced at 1:30pm. Thanks to our Market sponsors Skyline Bank, the Town of Independence, Grayson County, the Matthews Foundation and River Ridge Farm. We’ll be joined by the New River Bell Ensemble. They will provide some music and will have hot cider available as a fundraiser. Some vendors will remain until 5pm to participate in the Town festivities on Saturday which include a visit with Santa, additional kids actives, and the parade. This is the last day to pick up your pre-ordered Christmas trees and wreaths from Brookgreen Farm.
