Fair competition categories include vegetables, baked and preserved goods, honey, photography, art, flowers, plants and crafts, including quilts.  Information for entering a successful exhibit is found in the “2021 General Competitions book”, located on the website listed above. The general rules for entry are above each category with specific information next to the items in the category.  Youth and adults are judged separately.

T-shirts based on the winning poster design from 2019 will be available soon. We will be continuing this contest in 2021 and encourage all artists to enter. The poster should have an agricultural theme and will be used as the basis for t-shirts and other promotional items. The winning entry will receive $200 and a blue ribbon. Second and third place ribbons will also be awarded. Rules and more information can be found on the webpage.

Miss Kitty’s catering will be selling food and beverages and ice cream.  Please plan to bring your own water bottles this year.

The Fair is seeking exhibits and vendors that complement our Agricultural theme and are of interest to area farmers and consumers. There is no charge to be part of the Fair. Please contact Michelle Pridgen for more information about entering the fair at director@graysonlandcare.org or call 276-768-0597.

The Grayson County Farm Committee regrets to announce that the 2020 County Fair has been cancelled.  HOWEVER, the Youth Livestock will proceed as planned .Focusing only on the Livestock Show will allow more space for competitors and spectators to maintain social distance.

Please Save the date for the 2021 County Fair! It will be held August 13th and 14th.  We hope to make it something really special to make up for the cancellation this year.

2018

Grayson County is adding a Fair! to the current Youth Livestock Show.

The Livestock Show is always held the 2nd Saturday in August, this year that’s August 11.
The location is Bottomley’s Evergreens and Farm, 10278 Elk Creek Pkwy, Elk Creek, VA 24326. Check out the schedule for the Livestock Show.

This year’s Fair will feature exhibits by local agricultural producer groups, service organizations, and retailers. We’ll also be judging youth and adult entries in vegetables, baked goods, and canned goods.  We are keeping the exhibit list small this year while we learn how to organize everything. We plan to have the full slate of exhibits next year and a team of volunteers in place to help enter and display all the entries. You can help us this year by being part of the Fair and entering!

Here is all the information you’ll need.  The Exhibit Book lists all the categories (and there are LOTS of them) and the basics about how ribbons are awarded.   The University of Kentucky produced this great publication about exhibiting vegetables.  And finally, check out the adult entry form and the youth entry form.  Exhibitors should download, print and carefully fill out their Entry Form and bring with their exhibit(s) to registration. Please print or type legibly. It will be great if you fill out the forms ahead of time, but we will also have forms available at registration.

You may bring your exhibits to Bottomley’s Thursday, August 9 from 5-8pm and Friday, August 10 from 10 am to 3 pm. Pick-up date for Exhibits will be Sunday, August 12th, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

For Exhibit Questions or Additional Information Contact:
Michelle Pridgen– Exhibits Coordinator

See you at the Fair!
